Teaching CPD Q&As

Q I've had a few enquiries from 6th year students about how to claim CPD points for 4th and 5th year peer tutoring. If you could please advise me on how you would like CPD points claimed for this activity, I will let the tutors know. A There are 2 ways to earn CPD points: 1. Design the teaching activity as outlined in the CPD section on learn JCU ( Assessment> Overall Year Assessment Task: Continuing Professional Development>Teaching Exercise Resource - Participant Evaluation form and Worksheets) If you do the worksheet and 2 appraisal forms you can claim 5 points - You need to submit 1 teaching activity to learn JCU (and to your CPD portfolio as well) but any additional teaching activities can just be put in your CPD portfolio     2. If you don't want to fill in the worksheet/ appraisals you can claim 1 point per hour for teaching - documentation could include your ppt presentation, a photo of you doing the teaching, or a screenshot of a zoom gro...

Lets help each other with ideas

This is a place to share ideas about CPD activities with fellow students. I appreciate that restrictions imposed as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic mean that there are few opportunities to attend live events such as Grand Rounds in person. If you find live events on line or recorded resources you can use them for CPD (presentations should be 20 - 60 mins to claim a point) - audio podcasts are fine. I have been listening to excellent podcasts about COVID-19 at  https://www.microbe.tv/twiv/ Screen shots from your device can be used as evidence eg for this podcast (2 hours) I would claim 2 points Post your ideas on this blog!
